Washington, D.C. (January 7, 2025) Epstein Becker Green (EBG) is pleased to announce the addition of Lisa Diehl Vandecaveye to its Health Care and Life Sciences practice. Vandecaveye is the former Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer (CLO) of The Joint Commission, a leading independent and not-for-profit organization that accredits and certifies health care organizations and programs in the United States. She joins as Of Counsel and will be part of a nationwide health care practice that is considered among The Elite by Chambers and Partners.

Vandecaveye draws on more than 35 years of experience as a CLO and health care executive, during which she advised health care clients on the corporate and regulatory issues affecting their operations. At EBG, she will deliver business-focused general counsel services, guiding health care clients through strategic growth and development, governance, regulatory compliance, leadership transitions, licensing, insurance, and risk management best practices. She also advises on operational and HIPAA compliance matters, as well as medical staff, credentialing, peer review, and quality improvement issues.

“Lisa has been at the forefront of innovative health care compliance strategies for decades, notably with significant experience at the legal helm of one of the country’s prime accreditation institutions,” said David Matyas, Member of the Firm in the Health Care and Life Sciences practice and member of EBG’s Board of Directors. “This, combined with the skills gained from her time in-house at large hospitals and hospital systems, makes her addition to the firm invaluable to clients in need of corporate and regulatory guidance.”

“EBG is a pioneering health care-focused law firm with a storied career advising some of the most innovative institutions,” said Vandecaveye. “I’m eager to continue developing what EBG has built over the past five decades and expand the first-rate services the firm offers.”

Vandecaveye is a frequent speaker and author on topics related to health care and an active member of the American Health Law Association (AHLA). She serves in multiple leadership roles at AHLA, including as a member of its Board of Directors and an AHLA Fellow.
