Overview
Attorney Chris Page McGinnis brings a client-focused and practical approach to assisting employers in employment disputes and litigation ranging from discrimination claims and wage and hour violations to employment contracts and more.
Chris also has experience drafting employment policies, handbook provisions, and employment agreements, and he helps advise employers on issues arising under state and federal employment laws and regulations.
While in law school, Chris worked as a senior certified student attorney in the civil clinic, and he served as vice chair of the Nebraska Moot Court Board.
Focus Areas
Experience
- Helped clients understand their legal obligations under new labor and employment laws passed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Chris drafted work-from-home, leave, and reopening policies and advised on mass layoff and WARN Act obligations, terminations, furloughs, unemployment issues, and alternative work arrangements. He also recommended best practices for essential workers, a safe reopening, employee testing and health assessments, employee travel, and face covering requirements.
- Defended an international manufacturing company against claims of race, disability, and sex-based discrimination and retaliation by a former employee. The case was ultimately dismissed by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).
