Chicago, IL (October 27, 2022)Epstein Becker Green (EBG) is proud to announce that the firm has received the “2022 Advocate for the Arts” award from Grant Park Music Festival, which has held a ten-week classical music and choral concert series annually each summer in Chicago since 1931. This award recognizes the firm’s “outstanding support of the Chicago arts and culture landscape.”

Grant Park Music Festival was founded to provide a communal respite for city residents suffering under the Great Depression. The Festival continues to uphold this legacy by offering artistic development initiatives, radio broadcasts, and education and outreach programs—all completely free to the public. It remains “the people’s orchestra,” connecting citizens from every neighborhood and all walks of life through the shared experience of great music.

Michael Ferrell, Member of the Firm, has long-provided pro bono service to the Festival and also serves on its Board of Directors. His work helping the Festival navigate two seasons of COVID-19 was particularly invaluable, noted colleagues and Grant Park leadership. Because of this support, Michael will accept the award on behalf of EBG at the Festival’s annual end-of-season benefit.

The Award Benefit Committee noted, “The generous pro bono legal expertise provided to the Festival over the years has been instrumental in bringing a beloved Chicago tradition to Millennium Park for all to enjoy.”

“I would like to thank the Committee for choosing to honor our work at Epstein Becker Green in support of the Festival. It has been our honor and privilege to work with the Festival’s talented staff and leadership in service of such a worthy cause and institutional treasure for the City of Chicago,” said Michael. “The Grant Park Music Festival is unique to Chicago and allows our great community to gather and celebrate for ten weeks every summer, even and especially in hard times. I humbly accept the Advocate for the Arts award on behalf of EBG and look forward to continuing our support of the Festival and its mission of bringing people together through the power of great orchestral music performed live and available free to the public.”

EBG’s commitment to giving back is as strong and varied as the needs of our communities. For nearly 50 years, the firm has provided legal, financial, and other resources to resolve disputes and champion causes involving criminal law, financial rights, immigration rights, military affairs, education, tenants’ rights, and more.
