Epstein Becker Green announced today that transactional attorney Christopher M. Locke has rejoined the firm's Health Care and Life Sciences practice as a Member of the Firm in Washington, DC.
Locke brings more than 25 years of experience guiding professional practices, hospital systems, and private equity-backed entities through complex health care transactions and regulatory compliance matters.
As private equity investments in the health care sector continue to expand at a rapid pace, with 2025 disclosed deal value exceeding an estimated $191 billion, the industry faces an increasingly complex web of regulatory review and consolidation.
Chris rejoins Epstein Becker Green after a decade-long stint at a large national law firm.
"Chris brings a level of transactional and strategic insight that is increasingly critical for our clients as they navigate shifting reimbursement models, regulatory scrutiny, and a trend towards consolidation," said Mark Lutes, Chair of Epstein Becker Green’s Board of Directors. "We are pleased with his decision to return to Epstein Becker Green and fortunate to deepen our bench and capabilities related to complex transactions with his arrival."
Locke strengthens the firm's offerings through his extensive industry background and focus. His representative experience includes:
- Advising on numerous mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures for professional practices across specialties such as nephrology, gastroenterology, urology, and anesthesia.
- Representing private equity-backed management entities in complex partnership transactions, providing dual-perspective insight that ensures efficient deal execution.
- Counseling telehealth entities, particularly in behavioral health, on structural and regulatory compliance as they expand across state lines.
Clients also rely on Locke to serve as outside general counsel, benefiting from his broad industry knowledge and ability to advise management and boards of directors on matters ranging from corporate governance to employment issues.
“When the opportunity to return to Epstein Becker Green arose, it was a natural decision,” said Locke. “The firm’s health care focus and its strength in the transactional space have grown as the practice has evolved. I look forward to rejoining my colleagues and advising clients on the evolving landscape of private equity partnerships, regulatory complexities, and innovative care models.”
In summary, Locke's return to Epstein Becker Green—and 25 years’ experience—bolsters the firm's strategic capability to guide clients through the rapidly evolving health care transaction landscape. As the sector faces continued consolidation and compliance challenges, his comprehensive background ensures clients receive the guidance necessary to execute successful partnerships. Locke joins the "Law Firm of the Year" in Health Care Law (2026 edition of the Best Lawyers® "Best Law Firms" survey), further advancing Epstein Becker Green's strategic expansion of its Health Care and Life Sciences practice.
