Nashville, TN (January 7, 2025) Epstein Becker Green (EBG) is pleased to announce the addition of Tom Jaworski, the former Acting U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Tennessee, to its Health Care and Life Sciences practice. Jaworski joins the firm’s Nashville office as a Member of the Firm, joining a Health Care and Life Sciences practice that is considered among The Elite by Chambers and Partners.

As Acting U.S. Attorney, Jaworski served as the chief legal enforcement officer, where he directed high-profile litigation matters. In a region known for its immense health care footprint, Jaworski led litigation strategies for numerous significant health care fraud cases addressing waste and abuse in the health care system. Jaworski also brings experience as a trial attorney with the Fraud Section of the U.S. Department of Justice’s (DOJ’s) Criminal Division in Washington, DC, where he investigated and prosecuted health care fraud, kickback crimes, and money laundering.

“The district Tom served is known to be one vitally connected to the nation’s premier health care region,” said George Breen, Co-Chair of EBG’s national Health Care and Life Sciences Steering Committee. “Tom’s deep connection to the industry and city of Nashville will prove to be of significant benefit for our clients who desire an impressive background in government enforcement and deep experience in matters of health care compliance and litigation.”

Jaworski’s addition to the Nashville office comes just months after Howard T. Wall III, a health care transactions and health regulatory attorney, joined the team.

Jaworski defends clients in criminal health care fraud cases and in False Claims Act matters, including qui tam litigation alleging Stark Law / Anti-Kickback Statute violations and billing and coding issues. Additionally, he has handled a broad range of white-collar cases, such as tax violations, financial fraud, public corruption, money laundering, and computer crimes.

“Joining EBG is the ideal step forward in my professional journey, particularly given the firm's focus on health care law and litigation,” said Jaworski. “I am eager to take my experience handling complex health care litigation and trial matters to a team known for consistently delivering solutions in high-stakes cases involving regulatory compliance, reimbursement disputes, and fraud and abuse allegations."

Jaworski has been recognized for his legal and public service, being awarded the Homeland Security Investigations Award, the Department of the Army Achievement Medal for Civilian Service, and multiple DOJ Performance Awards.
