Honored for Research Compliance and Federal Grant Counsel in Massachusetts

Epstein Becker Green announced today that Kate Gallin, Member of the Firm in the Health Care and Life Sciences practice, has been named to the 2026 class of “Top Women of Law” by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly.

The annual honor recognizes women attorneys across Massachusetts for professional achievement, contributions to their organizations, service to the legal profession, and mentorship of the next generation of lawyers.

Gallin works with institutions at the points where that framework becomes urgent: when a research concern raises the question of self-disclosure, when a federal inquiry turns a routine grant file into an enforcement matter, and when administrators must investigate a problem without stalling the research around it. That combination of speed and rigor is what institutions need most when federal scrutiny arrives.

“The questions I hear most come from institutions trying to protect participants while keeping important work on track,” said Gallin. “I value the chance to help them find a path that does both.”

Gallin’s practice also involves:

  • Contributing to a national ethical framework for organ donor intervention research, later endorsed by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.
  • Presenting on that research to the Secretary’s Advisory Committee on Human Research Protections (SACHRP).
  • Serving as Managing Shareholder of the firm’s Boston office and as a member of the firm’s Board of Directors.
  • Chairing the firm’s Diversity and Professional Development Committee, a Board-level committee that includes the Pro Bono Program and Hiring Committee.

In summary, Gallin’s selection for the 2026 “Top Women of Law” class reflects her work advising academic medical centers, hospitals, and research institutions on human subjects protection, research misconduct, and federal grant compliance. For clients facing NIH and HHS OIG scrutiny, the recognition reinforces the firm’s Boston-based capability in research compliance and investigations.
