Newark, NJ (August 4, 2025)Epstein Becker Green is pleased to welcome Martin L. Monaco, Jr., Member of the Firm, and John D. Barry, Senior Counsel, to the firm’s Health Care and Life Sciences practice, which is ranked nationally among “The Elite” by Chambers USA.

“Martin and John bring a dynamic combination of transactional proficiency and strategic insight to Epstein Becker Green,” said Mark E. Lutes, Chair of Epstein Becker Green’s Board of Directors. “Their proven track records in navigating high-stakes health care deals, from private equity ventures to hospital transactions, position us to deliver outsized value and a measured approach to our clients in an uncertain environment. Their arrival marks an exciting step forward in expanding our transactional and regulatory capabilities in New Jersey and also throughout the country more broadly, thanks to our extensive national network.”

Monaco unites deep experience providing health care governance and regulatory compliance counsel with robust tax law applications. Health care providers, businesses, and nonprofit organizations turn to him for guidance on a broad spectrum of legal areas, including contract negotiation, tax issues, licensing for both business and individual providers nationwide, as well as the regulatory and business aspects of mergers and acquisitions. Monaco’s focus on health law stretches beyond his typical day-to-day practice, having served in several different leadership roles in the American Bar Association’s Health Law Section.

“My clients face multifaceted challenges that often span state lines, and Epstein Becker Green’s national presence ensures that we can deliver comprehensive, seamless support no matter where their business takes them,” said Monaco. “The health care industry is increasingly interconnected, and a national network is critical to addressing the complexities my clients face. Epstein Becker Green’s reach and varied resources empower me to deliver solutions that are both strategic and practical.”

Barry returns to Epstein Becker Green with more than a decade of experience guiding health care providers, physician groups, and investors through complex corporate, transactional, and regulatory compliance matters. His deep knowledge of federal and state health care fraud and abuse laws, including the Stark Law and the Anti-Kickback Statute, makes him a trusted advisor to health care entities nationwide. Since 2022, he has been recognized by Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® in America in Health Care Law.

“Epstein Becker Green offers an exceptional knowledge base of attorneys versed in the complexities of health care law, and their forward-thinking approach to client service made it an easy decision to return,” said Barry. “I’m thrilled to once again contribute to this pioneering firm’s legacy of excellence.”

Monaco and Barry continue a series of recent hires in the Health Care and Life Sciences practice following the additions of Gary Baldwin and Karl Thallner earlier this year.
