Recognition Symbolizes Firm's Commitment to Pro Bono Work for the Health Care Community
New York, NY (March 1, 2012) — Carrie Valiant has been named a Pro Bono Champion by the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA) for her significant pro bono legal services in the health care law field. The AHLA recognizes its member lawyers who have helped to increase the availability and quality of health care or otherwise provide needed access to the legal system for those in the health care community.
The AHLA noted that the Champion selected "represent excellence in fulfillment of the volunteer tradition of the legal profession." Valiant is Chair of the Firm's Pro Bono Program, Vice-Chair of Professional Development, and a Member of the Firm in the Health Care and Life Sciences practice in the Washington, D.C., office.
"Epstein Becker Green strives to build a 'culture of pro bono' among its attorneys and staff in all of its offices nationwide. This recognition by the AHLA could not have happened without the continued support of pro bono initiatives by EBG's leadership and senior management, the pro bono partners on the Pro Bono Committee, and by all of the attorneys and staff throughout EBG who commit substantial amounts of time and energy to find, do and support meaningful pro bono and community service projects and still meet their other work demands," said Valiant.
Valiant's pro bono work helped establish The Health Care Industry Access Initiative, a 501 (c) (3) organization devoted to promoting collaborative action across the healthcare industry to improve access to healthcare coverage and services to all Americans throughout the country. According to the AHLA, Valiant's leadership and foresight in establishing the Initiative have and continue to contribute enormously in helping to understand how communities can secure the healthcare services they need.
The Firm was founded to serve the health care industry and has been at the forefront of the health care legal developments since 1973. The focus of the Firm allows attorneys to become involved in a variety of pro bono projects in the health care industry.
Epstein Becker Green continues to recognize its professional responsibility to the communities it serves and understands the unique opportunity for personal and professional growth that pro bono work affords. Attorneys and staff in all 11 offices are encouraged to work on pro bono projects and to volunteer their time on community-based projects. A sampling of the Firm's 2011 health care pro bono clients include New York Center for Living, Children's Health Fund, ABZYME Research Foundation, Friends of Karen, National Association of Health Services Executives, Whitman Walker Clinic, and the Partnership for Public Service.
