New York, NY (June 5, 2012) — The national law firm of Epstein Becker Green (EBG) is pleased to announce that it was awarded the Gold Standard Certification from the Women in Law Empowerment Forum (WILEF). This designation recognizes law firms that have successfully integrated and promoted a large percentage of their equity women partners to top leadership and management positions within their organizations.
“I am pleased that we have been recognized for the substantial contributions of our women attorneys to our firm’s leadership. It is especially gratifying that so many of our women leaders, including myself, began their legal careers at EBG and are now in leadership roles and are being nationally recognized,” said Carrie Valiant, Vice Chair of EBG’s Diversity and Professional Development Committee, a Member of the Compensation Committee, Co-Chair of the Health Care Fraud group, and a Member of the Firm in the Health Care and Life Sciences practice in the Washington, D.C., office.
“EBG recognizes the importance of women to our profession and our success. We are committed to providing opportunities for women attorneys to move into more leadership roles within and outside of the firm. Several of our most successful ‘rainmakers’ at the firm are women who chair a practice steering committee, serve on the board of directors, hold a senior management position or lead an initiative,” said Frances Green, one of the co-founders of EBG Women’s Initiative, contributing author to The Goddess Shift, Women Leading for a Change, and a Member of the Firm in the Labor and Employment practice in the New York office.
Green continued, “With nearly half of our more than 300 professionals women, it is important for us to create and foster a workplace where they can thrive. Our Women’s Initiative is just one of the many resources that we have to help accomplish this.”
The firm’s Women’s Initiative, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, works to enhance and develop the careers of its women attorneys and those clients with whom they interact by providing existing and meaningful occasions where they can network, share information, acquire new skills, and develop rewarding professional relationships. In 2008, the Women’s Initiative started the Executive Women’s Networking Blog, which continues to be among the top Google search results for “Women’s Initiative Law Firms”. The blog is authored by partners and associates and examines many issues particularly relevant to women in business.
