Overview

“Employment disputes often involve more than the legal issue at hand. I take the time to understand the people, perspectives, and practical considerations involved so I can help clients determine the best path forward.” —Cassidy Mills

Nonprofit and for-profit employers facing workplace disputes and regulatory challenges turn to Cassidy Mills for practical, business-minded advocacy.

She represents employers in Massachusetts state and federal courts on labor and employment matters and advises them on day-to-day workplace issues.

In her counseling work, Cassidy guides clients through wage-and-hour compliance, employee performance management, and requests for workplace accommodations. She also helps employers reduce exposure to wrongful termination claims, protect confidential business information through restrictive covenants and trade secret agreements, structure employment agreements, and maintain policies that comply with Title VII, the ADEA, the ADA, and comparable Massachusetts and federal laws.

On the litigation side, Cassidy defends employers in wage-and-hour, discrimination, and breach-of- employment-contract disputes, among other workplace-related claims. From pleadings through depositions, discovery, motion practice, and trial, Cassidy handles the full arc of an employment dispute.

Before joining Epstein Becker Green, Cassidy practiced in the Litigation and Employment practices of a Boston-based law firm. Earlier in her career, she served as a judicial law clerk in the Juvenile Court Department of the Massachusetts Trial Court—drafting findings of fact, conclusions of law, and orders in care and protection and delinquency matters. As a law student, she interned for the U.S. Attorney's Office in New Haven, Connecticut.

What Cassidy Delivers for Clients

  • A Steady Hand When Disputes Escalate: When a workplace dispute proceeds to court, the stakes for a business’s reputation and finances rise quickly. Cassidy stays closely engaged with clients at each stage, providing clear, realistic assessments of strategy and exposure.
  • Litigation Experience That Complements the Counseling: Advice lands differently coming from someone who has litigated the kind of dispute she’s counseling on. Cassidy’s employment litigation shapes the guidance she gives up front, grounding it in what these disputes actually look like once they reach a courtroom.
  • Protection for the Relationships and Information That Keep a Business Running: Departing employees can take more than their own institutional knowledge with them. Cassidy helps employers put enforceable agreements in place before an employee leaves and moves quickly to protect client relationships and confidential information when a dispute arises.
  • A Clerkship-Trained Read on How Courts Decide: Understanding how a judge actually evaluates a motion or a set of facts is different from knowing the law in the abstract. Cassidy’s experience as a judicial law clerk gives her a practical sense of what persuades a court, insight she brings to each filing and every piece of advice she gives.
