Lynn Shapiro Snyder, a senior member of the firm in the Health Care and Life Sciences Practice in the firm's Washington, DC office, was quoted in the March/April issue of Corporate Board Member magazine about her efforts to help senior female health care executives find corporate board member seats.
The article, titled "Where to Find Women Directors,?" explains that Snyder was instrumental in creating a foundation called the Women Business Leaders of the U.S. Health Care Industry Foundation (www.womenleadinghealthcare.org).
The Foundation's mission is to help senior executive women involved in the U.S. health care industry improve their businesses through broad networking and to continue to grow professionally through board service. In the article, Snyder explained that WBL is a great source of supply for women who are ready and capable to serve on the Fortune 1000 boards -- and she encouraged companies to consider candidates other than current CEOs, such as senior vice presidents. "That would liberate a lot of experienced women," Snyder said.
