This session will focus on a Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) enforcement tool that rarely gets attention. CMS has the authority to revoke a provider’s or supplier’s Medicare enrollment for a variety of reasons, including some that are unrelated to fraud and abuse. In addition, organizations may be at risk of a revocation if key personnel have committed crimes or been the subject of a wide range of civil or administrative penalties.
The speakers will:
- Introduce CMS’s Medicare revocation authority
- Explain how such authority is applied
- Address special situations for revocations that affect providers and suppliers
- Discuss potential remedies and appeals
