California state and federal employment laws are constantly changing. Statutes are updated annually, and new cases are reported monthly. Solo and small firm attorneys who wish to “dabble” and/or expand their practice into employment face multiple traps for the unwary.
Whether you seek new clients who are plaintiffs and employees, or defendants or employers, or need to find or work with workplace investigators, this MCLE program is designed to: assist solo and small firm attorneys in fulfilling their ethical duty of competency and other key ethical duties; teach the basics of prosecuting and defending employment claims and involvement with workplace investigations; as well as provide practical training on spotting uncommon employment law issues.
The program is organized into the following three specific learning objectives for attendees:
- Learn about key ethical issues at intake and client retention stage of an employment law case;
- Learn how to issue spot key California state and federal employment law issues; and
- Learn the basics of prosecuting and defending employment claims, and involvement with workplace investigations.
