Washington, DC (November 3, 2023)Epstein Becker Green (EBG) is proud to announce that, for the fourth time, it has received the “Tipping the Scales” award, presented by the Diversity & Flexibility Alliance (Alliance) to a select 78 law firms in the United States. In furtherance of our ongoing commitment to advancing women in the legal profession, more than 50 percent of EBG's new partner class of 2023 was once again comprised of women attorneys.

“We have always been a firm in which opportunities to excel and achieve have been available for every individual,” said Carrie Valiant, Chair of EBG's Diversity & Professional Committee. “We have a long history of women advancing to partnership, as well as into office, practice and firm leadership positions. Promoting more women into partnership means that our historical trend can continue, and that our pool for such positions continues to expand along with the opportunities."

Out of the major law firms surveyed by the Alliance, the 2023 New Partner Report revealed that the recognized firms are “Tipping the Scales” toward gender parity. We were thrilled to elevate Amy Bharj (Employment, Labor & Workforce Management; Chicago), Elizabeth Harris (Health Care & Life Sciences; Washington, DC), Adriana Kosovych (Employment, Labor & Workforce Management; New York), Jennifer Nutter (Employment, Labor & Workforce Management; Los Angeles), Nivedita Patel (Health Care & Life Sciences; Washington, DC), Elizabeth Scarola (Health Care & Life Sciences; St. Petersburg), and Rachel Weisblatt (Health Care & Life Sciences; Boston) last year, all of whom have excelled in their new role and continue to grow as leaders within the firm.

The firm’s Women’s Initiative and other training resources, such as the Associate Shadowing Program, provide professional support, mentorship, and coaching to help our women attorneys advance to partner and other firm leadership roles. We understand that the way to retain women is to invest in their careers, including business development training, networking, and making available key client opportunities. At EBG, we celebrate and emphasize gender diversity within the firm as part of our Core Values.

EBG was recognized at the Alliance’s annual conference in November 2023.

Since 2012, the Alliance has generated the New Partner Report, a yearly compilation and examination of the nation’s largest and top-grossing law firms, to uncover trends in the percentage of women promoted to partnership each year.
