Reuters Quotes EBG Lawyers on Legal Issues Surrounding Conrad Black TrialAttorney Highlight July 25, 2007
Stuart M. Gerson and Pierre Georges Bonnefil were quoted in a widely reprinted Reuters news article titled "Ex-press Baron Black Seeks Freedom Before Sentence," which appeared on July 19, 2007.
The article examined whether Conrad Black, who was found guilty by a district court in Chicago of fraud and obstructing justice in taking almost $3 million from media company Hollinger International Inc., would be allowed to remain free pending a November 30 sentencing date.
"The court can set conditions as to the range of places that he can go to, whether he can be confined to his residence, whether electronic monitoring will take place," said Gerson, a member of the firm in the Litigation and Health Care & Life Sciences Practices in the firm's Washington, DC office.
Pierre Bonnefil, a member of the firm in the Labor and Employment practice in the firm's New York office, predicted that Black would face strict limits on his freedom of movement.
