But the bill could touch more than just government entities if it ever becomes law, according to Maxine Neuhauser of Epstein Becker & Green PC, who noted that courts are supposed to adopt broad readings of whistleblower laws because they serve a remedial purpose.
"There is going to be a push by employees and their counsel to get the broadest possible reading as to what is a 'government entity,' and one concern I have is the potential for private companies, such as, government contractors and social services agencies that depend on government funding, to be swept into the definition," Neuhauser said.
