Former California Official Rejoins Epstein Becker Green as Strategic Counsel in Los AngelesJune 1, 2011
NEW YORK (June 1, 2011) — The national law firm of Epstein Becker Green today announced that Dale E. Bonner, who formerly served in Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's administration as California's Secretary of Business, Transportation, and Housing, has returned to the Firm in a new role as Strategic Counsel with EBG Advisors, Inc.
Bonner is the Founder and Principal of Cal-Infra Advisors, Inc., an independent advisory firm that works with the public and private sectors on a wide range of infrastructure policy, programs, and projects. He has worked for more than 20 years at the intersection of government and industry, and played an active role in directing almost $80 billion of expenditures on public infrastructure, programs and services impacting almost every sector of California's economy. During his tenure, Secretary Bonner oversaw the Department of Managed Health Care, along with 13 other departments, was Co-Chair of the Health Information Technology Financing Advisory Commission and served on the California Broadband Task Force, the Personalized Healthcare Information Technology Task Force, the Health Information Exchange Task Force, and numerous other boards and commissions.
Through his affiliation with EBG Advisors, a Washington, D.C., consultancy that addresses strategy and public policy issues for the health care industry, private-equity and investment firms, and other organizations interested in health care, Bonner will provide regulatory and policy advice, and help address the unique infrastructure needs of the health care and life sciences industries. Prior to his tenure at BTH, Bonner practiced law in the Los Angeles office of Epstein Becker Green from 2002-2007, where he represented public- and privately-held companies in regulatory and transactional matters.
"Dale has a very impressive background in health care law and has been an integral part of developing new law in California during his tenure with the Schwarzenegger administration," said Wendy C. Goldstein, Chair of the Health Care and Life Sciences Practice Steering Committee. "We look forward to the valuable input and strategic role he will offer our clients."
Doug Hastings, Chair of the Firm's Board of Directors and a Member of the Health Care and Life Sciences Practice, said, "We have been at the forefront of legal and strategic issues confronting the U.S. health care industry for nearly 40 years, and Dale's presence will further strengthen our capabilities in this arena. His vast experience in the Schwarzenegger administration puts him in a position to provide our clients with an in-depth perspective on public policy issues and legislation, including health care in California and nationally."
"Given my long-standing relationship with Epstein Becker Green, I've always looked forward to returning to the Firm in some capacity after serving in the Schwarzenegger administration," said Bonner. "I now look forward to reconnecting with some of the best and brightest thinkers to forge new solutions to some of the toughest problems facing the health care and life sciences industry."
Bonner served as Commissioner of the California Department of Corporations from 1998 to 1999 and as Deputy Secretary and General Counsel for BTH from 1996 to 1998. He also served as Deputy Legal Affairs Secretary to the Governor from 1992 to 1996.
