New York, NY (November 30, 2023)Epstein Becker Green (EBG) is proud to announce that the winners of the firm’s 2023 Annual Core Values Champion awards are Lesley R. Yeung, Member of the Firm; Megan Robertson, Associate; and Thalia M. Bowen, Diversity Manager.

Six years ago, attorneys and staff worked together to define and express the firm’s values, creating a Values Commitment that outlines the intangible qualities of EBG that have shaped and continue to define our culture. To date, hundreds of colleagues at all levels throughout the firm have been nominated by their peers and recognized internally as monthly Core Values Champions. From those sincere and genuine nominations, we recognize annual honorees in three overall categories for their contributions to our culture—one Staff, one Non-Partner, and one Member of the Firm. Each honoree receives a gift acknowledging the award.

As James P. Flynn, Managing Director of EBG, expressed, "Every year we pause to reflect on the past year and our colleagues’ support for one another. We review all the nominations received, and see who stands out as living our values. The 2023 Annual Core Values Champions authentically embody our dedication to service, whether it's for a family member, friend, colleague, client, or charity. We extend our gratitude to each of them for setting an exemplary leadership standard at EBG."

We congratulate the following outstanding colleagues for their important role in creating an inclusive, rewarding, and values-based culture.

Lesley R. Yeung

Lesley is based in EBG’s Washington, DC, office but works remotely. She nonetheless is always “there,” regardless of distance or time zone, for the clients and colleagues that need her, whether it relates to a needed legal analysis or a personal favor. On a particularly noteworthy occasion, Lesley did not hesitate to go out of her way to help when a colleague and family faced personal difficulties while traveling abroad. This “superwoman attorney” epitomized the caring element of EBG’s Core Values, with an instinctive willingness to pause her packed agenda to substantively help someone else. The person who nominated Lesley noted that they are profoundly grateful to be part of an organization that not only attracts people of this character but also gives them the opportunities to thrive in their respective fields.

Megan Robertson

Megan, also based in EBG’s Washington, DC, office, received multiple nominations this year: first, for her ongoing work for and support of Seabury Resources for Aging, a pro bono client and charity with which the firm has been associated for many years; second, as part of a team of nearly two dozen EBG associates and staff who united to complete a massive client deliverable under extreme time pressure despite holiday circumstances; and third, for her leadership of and powerful communications strategy for EBG’s Legal Aid DC 2023 Making Justice Real Campaign, which raised more than $30,000 in personal and firm donations. These nominations are emblematic of Megan's unwavering enthusiasm and tireless efforts to support our community.

Thalia M. Bowen

Thalia, the firm’s national Diversity Manager, was nominated for all she does around the firm’s diversity, equity and inclusion efforts.  This included leading the team whose months-long efforts in organizing the 2022 Diversity Reception culminated in an incredibly successful event brimming with energy, empathy, and equity. Thalia took great care in planning and executing the program, ensuring that everything reflected the firm’s mission and no detail was overlooked.

Honoring Thalia with the “Annie Jo Burgess Staff Values Champion Award” extends beyond her efforts in organizing the reception. With over three decades of dedication to EBG, Thalia assumed the pivotal role of the firm's inaugural Diversity Manager in 2016. Her unwavering commitment to advancing the firm's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives is evident in every interaction. Thalia's passion radiates, making her the embodiment of our Core Values.
