Epstein Becker Green Is Recognized for Its Commitment to Diversity

NEW YORK (June 8, 2009) — The law firm Epstein Becker Green, which was recognized in a recent study for its large number of minority attorneys, announced today that it has been ranked among the top ten firms in the nation for its percentage of women lawyers in a new study by The American Lawyer.

The American Lawyer's inaugural "Women in Law Firms" study, which appears in the June issue of the influential magazine, ranked Epstein Becker Green 8th among the 200 largest law firms in the United States for its percentage of women attorneys. The Firm also ranked among the top ten for percentage of women in the partnership ranks.

"It is gratifying to be recognized by The American Lawyer as one of the leading law firms for its percentage of women attorneys and partners," said Doug Hastings, Chair of Epstein Becker Green. "Our Firm is committed to creating an inclusive environment at all levels. This ranking is a acknowledgment of our strong commitment since the Firm's inception."

Epstein Becker Green is one of only four law firms in the nation that made the top-20 lists of both the "Women in Law Firms" study and the Minority Law Journal's 2009 "Diversity Scorecard."

Recently, The Minority Law Journal, a sister publication of The American Lawyer, ranked Epstein Becker Green 6th in the nation for its number of minority partners. For its annual report on diversity among law firms, the magazine surveyed more than 200 of the country's largest and highest-grossing firms as ranked by The National Law Journal and The American Lawyer. The combination of Epstein Becker Green's overall minority numbers and the high number of minority partners, led to the Firm being ranked 17th on the overall survey.

Kenneth Standard, General Counsel and Chair of the Firm's Diversity and Professional Development Committee states, "We are pleased that The Minority Law Journal has recognized our dedication to diversity and our diversity achievements in its most recent survey. The Firm has consistently sought to promote diversity in every respect, not limited to racial and ethnic diversity, and not only internally but within the legal profession and the justice system in general. While we are proud of the recognition of our achievements, we know that much more needs to be done, and we will continue to work to maintain and enhance the Firm's diversity. We will do this because we know it is right, and we will do this because we know it will help us continue to provide the highest quality service to our clients."
