Matthew represents management in complex litigation as well as in administrative and arbitration hearings. Matthew has experience defending employers in litigation arising under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and the Family and Medical Leave Act. His practical and thorough approach enables him to advocate effectively for employers in high-stakes disputes.

Clients also turn to Matthew for counsel on a broad spectrum of employment issues, including risk management related to discrimination, harassment, reasonable accommodations, and wage and hour compliance. He assists in drafting and reviewing employment agreements, collective bargaining agreements, and workplace policies. Matthew also regularly advises on best practices for labor-management relations and supports HR professionals and managers through strategic training initiatives to improve compliance and mitigate litigation exposure.

Before joining Epstein Becker Green, Matthew served as a General Attorney in the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Office of the General Counsel, focusing on employment and labor law matters. Prior to that, he practiced at a boutique law firm, representing employers and insurers in federal workers’ compensation and state employment claims. During law school, Matthew completed an internship in the Office of the Attorney General of the District of Columbia, where he worked on deprivation of rights and tort claims for the Civil Litigation Division IV, and another in the U.S. Department of Labor’s Regional Solicitor’s Office in Arlington, Virginia, working on issues of wage, overtime, and timekeeping violations.
