Overview

Attorney Mason Gardner advises employers on the employee benefits, executive compensation, and employment issues they face. He represents employers of all sizes from various industries.

Mason counsels clients on ERISA, the Internal Revenue Code (IRC), benefit plan design, related governance and operations matters, and various compensation arrangements such as equity plans. He also advises employers of all sizes on executive compensation matters under IRC section 280(G), IRC 409A, fringe benefits, the Fair Labor Standards Act and related state law requirements, and employee misclassification analysis at the federal and state level. For clients involved in mergers, acquisitions, or other corporate transactions, Mason conducts due diligence and advises on post-close integration issues with respect to employee benefits, executive compensation, and employment matters.

Before joining Epstein Becker Green, Mason was an Employee Benefits and Employment law attorney consultant for two of the Big Four international professional services firms, where he advised employers on employee benefits, executive compensation, and employment law in due diligence and compliance matters.  

During law school, Mason served as the Executive Editor of the Houston Journal of International Law and was an active member of the moot court team. He was also a judicial intern to the Honorable Marcia Crone of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas and the Honorable John Donovan of the Texas 14th District Court of Appeals.

Mason is an Eagle Scout, and, in his free time, he enjoys participating in outdoor sporting activities and hiking national parks.
