Overview

Employers and health care organizations across the Pacific Northwest facing high-stakes legal challenges rely on attorney Mark Hansen for his strategic counsel and steadfast advocacy.

Mark defends employers in disputes involving claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour violations, and wrongful termination. He also represents clients in professional liability matters and complex commercial disputes. Clients value his courtroom readiness and disciplined case management grounded in experience in federal and state courts throughout Oregon, Washington, and Alaska.

Mark’s litigation experience includes single-plaintiff disputes, multi-party matters, and cases requiring coordination across regulatory and judicial forums. He manages complex matters from early case assessment through trial preparation, applying the same methodical approach to record development and strategic positioning regardless of the type of dispute. He also supports clients in internal workplace investigations that help shape litigation strategy or resolve issues short of litigation.

Before entering private practice, Mark clerked with the Oregon Department of Justice’s Special Litigation Unit, where he supported high-stakes matters and honed his motion practice in state and federal courts. Earlier roles in government and scientific field operations sharpened his attention to detail and evidence development—skills he applies to build strong records, pressure-test claims, and position cases for favorable outcomes.

What Mark Delivers for Clients

  • Strategy That Fits the Client: Mark takes the time to understand a client’s business, risk tolerance, and what a successful outcome actually looks like for the client—then helps build a litigation strategy designed to get there.
  • Trial-Ready from Day One: Mark approaches every matter as though it will go to trial—which strengthens the client’s position at every stage.
  • Complex Matters, Clear Focus: Complex disputes involving multiple parties, parallel proceedings, or intersecting regulatory and legal issues require someone who can see the full picture. Mark coordinates across stakeholders and forums while keeping the client’s core objectives in focus.
  • Investigations Built to Hold Up: He conducts workplace investigations that produce defensible findings, support sound employment decisions, and create a documented record that holds up if a matter escalates to litigation or a regulatory agency.
