Michael S. Kun, a Member of the Firm in the Labor and Employment Practice at the firm's Los Angeles office, was quoted in a November 8, 2007, Employment Law360 article on a bill passed by the US House of Representatives that would prohibit employment discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.
The article, "House Votes for Gay Employee Rights Bill," noted that while the bill was pushed through the House, it was done so without a controversial provision that would extend protection to transgender individuals. The bill's supporters, led by Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass) believed the bill would have a greater chance of passage without the provision.
"I think it's safe to say that the bill has a tremendous amount of momentum now," said Kun. "It was passed in the House with a number voted that surprised many people. And with this kind of momentum, there's an awfully good chance it will get passed in the Senate as well."
