Following is an excerpt:

Deloitte Legal and U.S. law firm Epstein Becker & Green announced Tuesday that they have entered into a strategic alliance under which they will team up on clients’ employment law and workplace management matters. …

Under the alliance, the two firms will refer work to one another. The 270-attorney Epstein Becker is located solely in the U.S. and so the agreement allows it to offer clients more services internationally and also expand beyond legal offerings to other services provided by the accounting giant.

“So much of what’s taking place in the labor and employment world is now on a global basis,” said David Garland, Epstein Becker employment, labor and workforce management steering committee chair. “So much of what multinational companies are looking at is cross-border — they need professional counsel in multiple jurisdictions.” …

In addition to the geographic benefit to both, the alliance is also good for Deloitte because of Epstein Becker’s long-standing presence and reputation within employment law, he added.

“Deloitte Legal is still a young player that has only been around for 10 to 15 years in the legal space,” Meeter said. “EBG has a great reputation in a specific area [employment and workforce management]. We can leverage their reputation and know-how in our organization.”
