Four Medicare Administrative Contractors will hold a teleconference/webinar meeting on Wednesday, June 26 with a multi-jurisdictional Contractor Advisory Committee (CAC) to review the efficacy of pharmacogenomic tests used to prescribe psychiatric medications. The tests involve sequencing patients’ genomes to assess how a patient may respond to different types of drug treatments. …
“The CAC is used to supplement the MAC’s internal expertise and to ensure an unbiased and contemporary consideration of ‘state of the art’ technology and science. The CAC is advisory in nature, with the final decision on all issues resting with the MACs,” Ellen C. Bonner, a lawyer at Epstein Becker Green, said in an email to The Capitol Forum.
