Eileen Millett Quoted in “Court of Appeals Delays Adoption of New Bar Exam”

New York Law Journal

Eileen D. Millett, Counsel in the Litigation and Health Care and Life Sciences practices, in the firm's New York office, was quoted in New York Law Journal, in “Court of Appeals Delays Adoption of New Bar Exam," by Joel Stashenko. The Chief Judge adopted the position espoused by Millett’s committee.

Following is an excerpt:

Eileen Millett, the co-chair of the state bar's legal education committee, along with Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center Dean Patricia Salkin, said the Court of Appeals has responded appropriately to objections raised by her committee and the state bar's House of Delegates.

"The court is willing to be deliberative and collaborative, and that is exactly what we were seeking," said Millett, counsel at Epstein Becker & Green. "We were seeking a deliberative process where the information could be processed before a significant change."

Millett also said Rivera was a good choice to head the committee to examine adoption of the UBE. Rivera was a City University of New York School of Law professor when Gov. Andrew Cuomo nominated her to the Court of Appeals.

"She is sensitive to what it means to prepare students for the practice of law," Millett said.
