New EEOC Sexual Harassment Guidance: An Interview with Kate RhodesEmployment Law This Week February 12, 2018
Employment Law This Week® (Episode 104: Week of February 12, 2018) has released bonus footage of its interview with Kate B. Rhodes, a Member of the Firm at Epstein Becker Green.
Acting U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) Chair Victoria Lipnic says the EEOC will release new sexual harassment guidance soon. Speaking at a New York University School of Law symposium called “Avoiding the Next Harvey Weinstein,” Lipnic said that much of the current guidance dates back to the 1990s. As Ms. Rhodes discusses, the content of the new sexual harassment guidance can likely be informed by a 2016 task force report by the EEOC, which issued a few best practices such as more individualized training on anti-harassment and discrimination procedures in the workplace and increased training for front-line managers. In November, the EEOC announced revisions to the draft guidance in response to #MeToo. Those revisions have now been sent to the Office of Management and Budget for approval, which Commissioner Lipnic expects to receive in the next month.
