With the rate of U.S. inflation at its highest level in four decades, economists and attorneys have questioned whether President Joe Biden could freeze workers' wages, as former President Richard Nixon did to fight inflation ...
But if employers oppose price controls and workers oppose wage controls, a policy that implements both would be very unpopular, attorneys said.
"If the president today were to declare that he was taking control over all wage levels and price levels in the economy, we could well see another Revolution," Paul DeCamp of management-side firm Epstein Becker Green told Law360 in February. "I just don't think that would be a measure that would find significant support in either party." …
