Mark E. Lutes, a member of the Health Care and Life Sciences Practice in the Washington, DC office, is quoted in a February 2007 article in Health Data Management that discusses two final rules designed to ease restrictions on hospitals and other entities that donate information technology (IT) to physicians and group practices.
In the article, titled "Hospitals Giving the Gift of Technology,?" Lutes commented that the final rules "are a 'facilitating step' toward physician adoption of IT, but are not "enough to turn on the IT light for many physicians."
"This could be an important step for physicians for whom the financial barriers of IT were paramount,?" Lutes said. "But the adoption of technology is still a matter of physicians being convinced that it's worth the pain of changing workflow."
