The index has become a roadmap and benchmark tool for U.S. businesses to gauge equality in the workplace for lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and transgenders (LGBT). The rating criteria for the index are rigorous, fair, and transparent. In addition, the index identifies emerging best practices that can improve the experiences of LGBT employees.
