New York, NY (April 20, 2022)Epstein Becker Green (EBG) is proud to announce it has received the 2022 Law Firm Partner Award from Union Settlement, a not-for-profit social service agency located in the East Harlem neighborhood of New York City. This award recognizes a law firm that has gone “above and beyond” in assisting Union Settlement in its mission to create opportunity in the community “by offering comprehensive programs that help underserved residents improve their skills and build better lives for themselves and their families.”

Dean Silverberg, Member of the Firm, has represented Union Settlement for more than 35 years and will accept the award on behalf of EBG at their annual Spring Benefit.

“We are very honored, and most delighted, to be selected as this year’s recipient,” said Mr. Silverberg. “Over the years, I have been so very impressed with the services provided by Union Settlement to the residents of East Harlem—services which have really made a difference in their lives, in the community, and beyond. Each year at this event, I listen to the very touching and moving accounts of the program participants, and the personal and professional satisfaction they have achieved. Of course, these milestones could not have been reached without the talent and hard work of the dedicated staff who make a difference in the lives of those they touch.”

EBG has been a stalwart partner of Union Settlement for more than four decades, during which time the firm has provided both regular labor and employment law work, as well as pro-bono assistance with HR consultation and employee training.

“We thank Union Settlement for bestowing this honor on the firm,” said James P. Flynn, Managing Director of EBG. “Dean and others at the firm have worked with Union Settlement over these many years to demonstrate our enduring and shared commitment to Union Settlement’s mission. We are grateful for this opportunity to serve the underserved, represent the underrepresented, and aid organizations that make positive and lasting impacts that improve the lives of residents in our communities such as East Harlem.”

“We are delighted to honor EBG for four decades of legal assistance to Union Settlement,” wrote Jennifer Geiling, Chief Executive Officer of Union Settlement. “Thank you, Dean, for the continuous support that you and EBG have provided to enable Union Settlement to be responsive to our evolving community and enable our growth. We look forward to many more decades of partnership.”

Since 1895, Union Settlement has helped East Harlem residents better their lives and achieve their dreams through vital programs such as policy and advocacy, adult education, business development, early childhood education, mental health, senior services, and youth services.
