Bradley Merrill Thompson, a Member of the Firm in the Health Care and Life Sciences practice in the Washington, DC, office, was quoted in an article titled "Industry Applauds FDA Draft Guidance On Mobile Medical Apps."
Following is an excerpt:
The medical device and software industries voiced support last week for a July 19 FDA draft guidance that helps clarify the types of mobile software applications that would face FDA regulation. The draft guidance covers medical device software used on the Apple iPhone and iPad as well as Blackberry, Android and other smartphones, tablet computers and personal digital assistants.
Bradley Merrill Thompson said he is pleased that FDA released its mobile health guidance so quickly, and that it is so detailed and substantial. "This means that our meeting will be extremely productive," said Thompson. "We can compare both documents. The timing is wonderful from that standpoint."
