Avery Schumacher, Associate, co-presents “Tales from the Crypt: A Review of Recent Hair Raising Medical Staff Cases and Lessons Learned” at the National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) Annual Conference, which runs from October 18 to 21.
This presentation will examine a number of high profile and meaningful cases that have impacted the medical staff world over the last couple of years. What went wrong? What went right? What are the implications? Cases examined will include an Ohio ICU physician indicted on 35 counts of murder, a hospital sued by the EEOC for blanket medical testing physicians over 70, a physician awarded a $4.75 million jury verdict in a defamation suit against a hospital, a Pennsylvania appellate court ordering the production of NPDB reports from the credentialing file, and others.
