Jeremy Morris, Member of the Firm, co-presents “Sharing Peer Review Information” at the National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) Annual Conference, which runs from October 18 to 21.
Although every state statute is different, they are in agreement that information loses peer review protection if it is used for a non-peer review purpose. Most statutes provide that the information is now available from the non-protected source. Some provide that the information is now available from the peer review file. Either way, it can destroy your peer review program. The purpose of this session is to provide guidance on how maintain protection and how to respond to the numerous requests that are constantly being made to share information in your peer review files.
