Following is an excerpt:

Epstein Becker Green has beefed up its ranks in the Windy City by bringing over a veteran attorney from Jones Day who has represented big-name employers in high-stakes cases — including McDonalds’ ongoing battle with the National Labor Relations Board.

Michael S. Ferrell, who has litigated employment discrimination, wage-and-hour claims, collective bargaining and employment contract disputes for companies including McDonald’s USA LLC, Bridgestone Americas Inc. and General Motors Co., joined Epstein Becker as a partner in the labor and employment practice on March 13 after almost 17 years at Jones Day.

Ferrell said Epstein Becker’s focus on labor and employment led him to make the move.

“It’s not just one of their small practices,” Ferrell said. “It is the focus of the law firm. This allows them to bring a lot of innovative approaches of value to my clients.” …

David W. Garland, chair of the firm’s employment, labor and workforce management steering committee, said in a statement that the firm is excited to welcome Ferrell as the latest addition to the growing practice group in Chicago.

“Mike has been a strong advocate for a number of well-known companies and brands and an asset to them as they work to prevent risk and achieve their business goals,” Garland said.
