Marc A. Mandelman, a Member of the Firm in the Labor and Employment practice, in the firm’s New York office, was quoted by Bloomberg BNA, in “New York Mayor Signs Legislation Expanding Sick Leave Law Passed in 2013,” by John Herzfeld.
Following is an excerpt:
Employers who already meet or exceed the required minimum of sick leave days will still have to comply with other provisions, such as verification requirements that bar employers from requiring a doctor’s note for absences of less than three consecutive days, Mandelman said. The law’s provisions may hamper employer efforts to address sick leave abuse or fraud, he said.
