Epstein Becker Green bolstered its ranks in Boston by luring over a seasoned attorney from Ogletree Deakins who specializes in helping life sciences companies navigate the full gamut of labor and employment issues.

Kate Rigby recently joined as a member at Epstein Becker after 15 years at Ogletree Deakins Nash Smoak & Stewart PC, where she had been a shareholder and co-leader of the firm's life sciences practice, Epstein Becker said Monday. Rigby told Law360 that Epstein Becker's commitment to both the life sciences sector and workplace law drew her to the firm.

"There's really no better firm in the country for me to choose, given its combined strength of labor and employment and its particular focus in life sciences," she said Monday.

Rigby's experience includes working with life sciences companies, such as pharmaceutical companies and biotechnology and medical device outfits.

Rigby said she's well-versed in a wide array of employment law and human resources issues, such as conducting investigations, running employee and management training and working with clients on ensuring their hiring, leave of absence and discipline and termination policies pass legal muster. 

This focus on human resources was a natural fit for Rigby, who started her career working as a recruiter and human resources manager before attending Wake Forest University School of Law, she said.
