Julie Watson Lampley, Member of the Firm in the Health Care and Life Sciences practice, and Machelle Dunavant Shields, Strategic Advisor for EBG Advisors, Inc., were featured in the Nashville Business Journal, in “Prominent Law Firm Loses Nashville Chief,” by Meg Garner.

Following is an excerpt:

Julie Watson Lampley has left Butler Snow LLP, after nearly 20 years with the Mississippi-based law firm, including several leading the firm’s Nashville office.

Lampley has joined the local office of Epstein Becker Green P.C., a nationally recognized health care law firm, according to a news release. Machelle Dunavant Shields, a Memphis-based Butler Snow health care policy adviser, also left to join Epstein Becker Green’s Nashville team, though she will remain based in Memphis, the release states.

“As we have grown in Nashville, we have been fortunate to attract very talented attorneys and professionals with diverse experience who add tremendously to [Epstein Becker Green]’s platform,” Mark Lutes, chair of the firm’s board of directors, said in a statement. “Julie and Machelle are well known for providing creative solutions and effective advocacy to life science and health care providers located throughout the country. We are confident that their long-standing clients, as well as [Epstein Becker Green]’s existing clients, will benefit from their joining [Epstein Becker Green].”

Epstein Becker Green currently has six attorneys in its Nashville office, which it launched in mid-2017. Overall, the New York-based firm ranks in the Top 10 of the nation’s largest health care-focused firms, according to Modern Healthcare.

Butler Snow is the city’s fifth-largest law firm, with 54 local attorneys, according to NBJ research. It was not immediately clear who will replace Lampley as chief of Butler Snow’s local office.
