A change in worker status could have a “significant impact on growth” for Uber and other sharing economy companies, said Jeffrey H. Ruzal, an employment, labor and workforce management attorney at Epstein Becker & Green PC in New York.
“Any sort of finding suggestive of employment status may stifle the market to some degree,” Ruzal said. “Thus, employers will have to be careful as to how they operate their business.”
