John “Jack” Gilbertson, Member of the Firm in the Health Care & Life Sciences practice, in the firm’s Los Angeles office, was featured on ICLG.com, in “Epstein Becker & Green Buttresses Healthcare Group,” by Robert Li.
Following is an excerpt:
A veteran healthcare lawyer with extensive experience as a Big Four accountant has left Dentons to join Epstein Becker & Green in California.
Epstein Becker & Green (EBG) has hired Jack Gilbertson as a member of its healthcare and life sciences group in Los Angeles.
Gilbertson has previously counselled an array of healthcare industry players including major healthcare systems, hospitals, research institutions and physician groups, as well as medical device manufacturers and pharmaceutical companies.
Negotiation of mergers and acquisitions, joint venture and service agreements, and reimbursement under the United States Medicare and Medicaid schemes, are principal areas of strength for Gilbertson, along with data privacy and cybersecurity issues.
Gilbertson studied accounting and spent eight years in the audit and tax consulting group at Ernst & Young (commonly known as EY), before training as a lawyer and joining Dentons legacy firm Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal, leaving as partner after nine years.
He then spent four years in the health sciences regulatory and compliance practice at Deloitte, before rejoining Dentons, leaving as senior counsel after serving another nine years.
In a statement EBG board member George Breen praised Gilbertson’s arrival in bringing “additional service and geographic capabilities” to the firm’s healthcare practice in California.
