Frances M. Green, Of Counsel, is the featured guest in “SheShares with Frances Green (Change Maker 2025),” an online SheShares conversation hosted by She Breaks the Law.

Fran is one of She Breaks the Law’s six 2025 Change Makers—a woman whose path has taken her from the convent to the courtroom and to the frontlines of AI governance.

Fran's journey has included:

  • Rising in corporate leadership at a time when women in senior roles were rare
  • Living a vowed life as a Maryknoll Sister, serving in Tokyo
  • Transitioning to law, becoming a trial lawyer, and later specializing in cybersecurity, data privacy, and AI governance

Today, Fran:

  • Advises boards and executives on data privacy, cybersecurity, and the ethical deployment of AI in workplaces and consumer-facing services
  • Serves on working groups including the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Center for AI Standards and Innovation (CAISI)
  • Champions her firm’s Women’s Initiative that she co-founded and contributes at the board level to international networks such as Corporate Counsel Women of Color and the Japan Society’s U.S.–Japan Executive Leadership Initiative

In this session, Fran will share:

  • How her experiences as an executive, former nun, and lawyer shaped her understanding of power, service, and voice
  • Why she refuses to see “hurdles” and instead keeps re-skilling—including returning to study AI and cybersecurity later in her career
  • What ethical, human-centered AI looks like in real workplaces
  • The mentors, communities, and acts of quiet courage that made this journey possible
