Digital media have changed the workplace. While that change has presented opportunities for greater efficiency and lower costs, it has also provided new challenges. Surveys show that departing employees are increasingly using digital electronic devices to leave their jobs with some of their employers' most valuable assets — client lists, marketing plans, and other proprietary data. We will discuss this change and the concrete policies and practices employers should have in place now to minimize the risk of losing their vital property to a departing employee.
