Some states provide minors with the ability to consent to mental health services and substance use disorder treatment without involving their parents.
In addition, 42 C.F.R. Part 2 gives minors additional rights to consent to how their substance use disorder treatment records are disclosed.
However, the privacy afforded by these laws can be hindered by billing processes, parent access to medical records, and sharing of information between providers.
The presenters will discuss considerations for managing these challenges.
