Arthur Fried, Member of the Firm, will copresent "Changes to the Federal e-Discovery Rules and Its impact on HIM and the EHR" at the 79th annual New York Health Information Management Association (NYHIMA) Conference, which runs from June 1 to 4.
The Federal rules that govern how e-discovery can be used in court are changing and they are are currently under review by the US Civil Rules Advisory Committee on track for finalization. The rule changes, particularly related to e-discovery and litigation proceedings, will have an impact on HIM professionals and the way they handle legal proceedings and electronic health record (EHR) requests. E-discovery requests are expected to grow in the near future due to the widespread adoption of EHR systems and advances in health information exchange.
