Kevin Malone, Member of the Firm, co-presents “Managing Integrated PACE Behavioral Health Services in Outpatient and Inpatient Settings” at the 2024 National PACE Association (NPA) annual conference, which runs from October 13 to 16.

The session addresses barriers such as the shortage of geriatric psychiatrists, nursing facility bed shortages, assisted living and nursing facility disruptive patient policies, nursing facility conditions of participation, and interdisciplinary team policies and procedures.

Topics include:

  • Explaining the range of behavioral health needs of PACE participants and opportunities for the provision of integrated primary and behavioral health care in the PACE model of care.
  • Analyzing the state and market-specific clinical, operational, compliance, and legal barriers that may limit the ability to deliver effective and integrated behavioral health services in the PACE center, participant's home, and assisted living and nursing facilities.
  • Identifying concrete steps that organizations can take to improve access to integrated behavioral health while addressing challenges of provider partners, staffing, and compliance.
