The Department of Labor and private plaintiffs' attorneys continue to target health care employers regarding the payment of wages, overtime, and meal breaks to tipped employees. Frequent issues arise as to which employees are exempt from overtime, when employees are working off the clock, and what breaks and other time qualifies as compensable working time. In this presentation, we will review these issues and provide HR personnel with best practices for compliance to avoid costly class action lawsuits and government investigations.
