Robert J. Grey, Jr.

Robert Grey is LCLD’s President and visionary. His passion for uplifting diverse attorneys and his record of trailblazing leadership drive LCLD’s pursuit of affecting systemic change. Robert is also a retired Senior Counsel with Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP, where his practice focused on representing businesses in administrative, regulatory, and legislative matters. In addition, he has served as a neutral in dispute resolution matters with the McCammon Group.

In 2010, Robert was appointed by President Barack Obama and confirmed by the U.S. Senate to the Board of the Legal Services Corporation, where he was later reappointed by President Donald Trump.

As President of the American Bar Association (ABA) from 2004 to 2005, Robert worked for justice through better juries via the American Jury Initiative. He was elected Chair of the ABA House in 1998, the first person of color to serve in that role.

Robert received his B.S. in 1973 from Virginia Commonwealth University and his law degree in 1976 from Washington and Lee University, where he served on the Board of Trustees from 2006 to 2014.
