Following is an excerpt:
Epstein Becker Green, along with three other law firms in Chicago, earned the highest possible ranking — Tier 1 — during the City of Chicago’s green competition second round, which evaluated participants green practices and policies throughout 2011.
“We are psyched,” said Cinthia LeGrand, director of office administration in the firm’s Chicago office. “We were involved in the first round and this year; moved up from Tier 2 to Tier 1.”
To earn more points this time around, LeGrand said that the firm updated its green purchasing policies, conducted a waste audit, put new aerators on all of the office’s faucets and switched to energy efficient light bulbs.
“I think it’s a really good thing the city is doing here. We are really into it,” LeGrand said. “And with the light bulbs, we are seeing some cost savings.”
