A proposed rule updating the Fair Labor Standards Act's overtime exemptions won't be ready by the November target date listed in the U.S. Department of Labor's most recent regulatory agenda, Solicitor of Labor M. Patricia Smith said Thursday, adding the proposal remained months away and that she hoped to see it rolled out early in the new year.
The solicitor of labor spoke at a client briefing in Manhattan, hosted by Epstein Becker Green, and she touched on a variety of topics, including rule-making initiatives, unpaid internships and U.S. Supreme Court litigation.
