New York, NY (February 19, 2019) – Epstein Becker Green (EBG) is pleased to announce that Robert J. O’Hara, an experienced employment attorney and senior HR executive, has joined as a Member of the Firm in the Employment, Labor & Workforce Management practice, in its New York office. For nearly two decades before joining EBG, Mr. O’Hara managed employment law and human resources compliance for United Technologies Corporation, a global Fortune 50 company with more than 225,000 employees in 150 countries.
Mr. O’Hara has significant experience conducting and overseeing sensitive workplace investigations (including sexual harassment, bribery, FCPA, product quality, supply chain theft and malfeasance of every kind), executive terminations, and government audits, including more than 350 compliance audits with the U.S. Department of Labor’s OFCCP and Wage & Hour Divisions. Given the depth and breadth of his knowledge, he is adept at identifying and solving problems faced by multinational companies operating in various legal regimes and has implemented global programs to ensure compliance requirements are met.
“We are thrilled to continue the growth of our practice with the addition of Bob to our team,” said David W. Garland, Chair of EBG’s Employment, Labor & Workforce Management Steering Committee. “Bob is one of the finest employment lawyers I know. Because of his vast experience, C-suite executives and board members can call upon Bob to provide sound advice as a trusted advisor. This is especially important in today’s environment, where HR issues have the potential to harm a brand’s reputation and shareholder value.”
Before practicing law, Mr. O’Hara spent 13 years at the National Security Agency in a number of intelligence analyst and management positions, including as Chief Intelligence Analyst for the National Security Council at the White House, and had assignments in the Pentagon supporting the Secretary of Defense, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Legal Counsel.
“I am looking forward to the next stage of my career and to returning to private practice at a firm with such a strong labor and employment group,” said Mr. O’Hara. “The opportunity to use my skill-set to assist EBG’s clients with the various employment challenges they face is exciting as is the chance to work alongside the firm’s talented and innovative attorneys.”
Mr. O’Hara is a sought-after speaker and trainer with the American Bar Association (Section of Labor and Employment, National EEO Committee, and International Labor and Employment sections) and the American Employment Law Council. He received a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, an M.S. from Defense Intelligence College (now the National Intelligence University), and a B.A. from Walsh University.
